Experience
  • Given that religious faith is an intrinsic element of human experience, it is best to approach and engage the subject with a sense of history and a critical sensibility.

  • I can't control what people think. I'm not trying to manipulate people's thoughts or sentiments. I write all the time. You have to experience life, make observations, and ask questions. It's machine-like how things are run now in hip-hop, and my ambitions are different.

  • If you're writing, you're starting in private. It can really be this amazing, private, freeing experience. Forget that it's for other people - that comes in later.

  • Everybody's entitled to think whatever they want and to express that, but my personal day-to-day experience does not come into contact with any of those people.

  • Words are capable of making experience more vivid, and also of organizing it. They can scare us, and they can comfort us.
