Independence is happiness.

Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort.

We have no more right to consume happiness without producing it than to consume wealth without producing it.

Never permit a dichotomy to rule your life, a dichotomy in which you hate what you do so you can have pleasure in your spare time. Look for a situation in which your work will give you as much happiness as your spare time.

I start to think there really is no cure for depression, that happiness is an ongoing battle, and I wonder if it isn't one I'll have to fight for as long as I live. I wonder if it's worth it.
