Peace
  • The true and solid peace of nations consists not in equality of arms, but in mutual trust alone.

  • There are no absolute rules of conduct, either in peace or war. Everything depends on circumstances.

  • The great thing in the world is not so much to seek happiness as to earn peace and self-respect.

  • Change is certain. Peace is followed by disturbances departure of evil men by their return. Such recurrences should not constitute occasions for sadness but realities for awareness, so that one may be happy in the interim.

  • I have never advocated war except as a means of peace.
