War
  • War - An act of violence whose object is to constrain the enemy, to accomplish our will.

  • We used to wonder where war lived, what it was that made it so vile. And now we realize that we know where it lives... inside ourselves.

  • The myth of unlimited production brings war in its train as inevitably as clouds announce a storm.

  • When the tyrant has disposed of foreign enemies by conquest or treaty, and there is nothing more to fear from them, then he is always stirring up some war or other, in order that the people may require a leader.

  • A democracy which makes or even effectively prepares for modern, scientific war must necessarily cease to be democratic. No country can be really well prepared for modern war unless it is governed by a tyrant, at the head of a highly trained and perfectly obedient bureaucracy.
